Unfair Dismissals likely to follow rioting?

Some have lost everything. The effects on employees of the business could yet cause more problems.

Employment Partner at SAS Daniels LLP warns that some businesses may not be able to continue as a result of the riots and this could lead to mass redundancies.

“There may be no alternative for some businesses,” the Partner says.“While we have all been shocked by recent events, the worst could still be yet to come for many employees”.

“If a business closes redundancies are likely to follow but employers should not assume they can just dismiss without a proper process as claims for unfair dismissal on top of all the other turmoil an employer is going through could really be one step too far. Early advice is the key in all cases but is likely to be the last thing on a lot of employers’ minds just at the moment.”
