Further to this year’s Macclesfield round table charity beer festival, Macclesfield and District 332 Round Table will be pleased to donate £20,000 to the David Lewis Centre to contribute towards the purchase of a replacement mini-bus and towards the start-up capital costs for their new premises in Macclesfield town centre.
David Lewis fundraising manager, Nicky Downes said “It’s brilliant news! We are all so thrilled with the generosity of the round table and the festival sponsors for their very kind support for David Lewis. The beer festival is so popular I think it’s really good for everyone to know what the funds raised from this annual event support.”
The Head of SAS Daniels Macclesfield office said “The Macclesfield beer festival is a real fixture in the local area, and as a business with a strong presence in the town we thought it was only right that we support the local community through our sponsorship. The festival was a great way to meet like-minded people whilst sampling some of the fantastic beers and ciders on offer, and we were delighted to be involved.”
Angela Moulton, director of Bennett Brooks chartered accountants said “We were delighted to be joint sponsors for an event which creates such a buzz around the town. What is always evident about the beer festival is how much fun is had by everyone involved and for the organisers to have raised £20,000 for the David Lewis Centre is phenomenal!”
The cheque will be presented by Macclesfield Round Table to the David Lewis Centre on Thursday, 18 July 16:30 at the David Lewis workshop, Chestergate, Macclesfield. The festival committee and main sponsors will be in attendance.
The festival, held at Macclesfield rugby club, ran on 10 & 11 May 2013, its 19th year. In total, the festival saw 16,500 pints of ale and 1,500 pints of cider and perry drunk, along with 315 bottles of wine and innumerable soft drinks. To line stomachs, visitors got through 500 beef and 500 pork pies as well as almost 1,000 sandwiches.
