Important Child Support Agency changes

Year Published: 2014

Since December 2012 the Department for Work and Pensions, Child Maintenance Group, have been testing the new system and are confident that the new scheme works well.

They are preparing to open the Child Maintenance Service to all new statutory applications in the next few weeks. From that point the CSA will no longer accept statutory scheme applicants. However, the CSA will continue to manage existing cases on the 1993 and 2003 scheme.

The current information available suggests that the Child Maintenance Service will charge the parent who is paying 20% and the parent receiving the payment 4%. The intention is that this will encourage parents to arrange payments directly with each other, rather than via the Agency.
