North West law firm, SAS Daniels LLP, is offering residents in The Heatons, located in Greater Manchester, an opportunity to learn more about future planning for living and ageing well for when they retire.
Today, 17% of people living in The Heatons are aged over 65; that’s 11,900 people who should already have a retirement plan in place. However, according to research, this isn’t always the case as one in seven people are retiring with no pension other than a basic state pension, and women are three times more likely than men to have no savings for retirement. Therefore, planning for a well-balanced and secure future is vital.
Collaborating with local businesses and charities including Independent Care, Age UK Stockport and Signpost for Carers, SAS Daniels will host a free event at The Heatons Sports Club on Thursday, 9 October from 10.00 until 14.00. The event aims to inform attendees with a series of short presentations about how to plan ahead for retirement. Topics include:
- Reviewing the suitability of wills and financial planning;
- Carers’ rights and benefits;
- Healthy mind & body;
- Long-term care;
- Social activities in the area;
- Free health checks;
- General well-being including physiotherapy and yoga.
In addition, there will be local business stalls, a buffet lunch and refreshments provided for attendees.
Margaret Brade, Chief Officer at Age UK Stockport, said: “Many of The Heatons’ over 65s live alone, so events like this are really valuable to people who want to remain connected to the community while providing people with access to a range of information and support to help make later life the best it can be.”
Helen Kelly, Partner at SAS Daniels in Stockport, added: “Towns and cities across the UK must act now to support the increasing ageing population. As a local business, we have collaborated with both charities and businesses alike, to ensure a stress-free approach to retirement planning so people can concentrate on enjoying their lives.”
