I am a Partner in the Commercial Property team based in Stockport and also head of the firm’s Construction & Engineering sector. I specialise in all types of construction and engineering work and working in these industries over the last 25 years and the people in them never cease to spark my interest. I act for commercial employers, public bodies, developers, education clients, contractors, subcontractors, professionals and many other stakeholders. I am experienced in projects, drafting and negotiating contracts, disputes and the avoidance and settlement of disputes. I strongly prefer commercial solutions that give clients answers, not options. My work covers all the major standard form contracts and many non-standard forms or where there are no contract at all.

What people say about me:"Roger has completed 3 capital developments for the college. The college received an excellent service from Roger. He is extremely diligent in ensuring that the college gets the best deal possible and that it is protected from all eventualities. Throughout the process, I was re-assured by Roger's knowledge of the construction process, he would ensure that I was kept fully informed and would provide invaluable explanations of all the legal implications of the contract. Roger was always available if I needed to contact him and he was always able to attend meetings at short notice." (Lesley Hart, Vice-Principal, Bolton Sixth Form College)
"Roger is a very knowledgeable and tenacious construction law specialist. He led and succeeded in a difficult negotiation to vary a subcontract with a major civil contractor on behalf of my client, a scaffolding firm facing insolvent winding up if that contract could not have been varied and settled.” (Tim Askham, Partner, Mazars LLP)
Roger Allsup is noted for his contentious construction experience and is considered an "expert in the field who works very hard for his clients." (Legal 500, 2018)
Why I'm no ordinary professional:I listen. I understand. I work tenaciously to achieve what I have agreed with clients. My clients appreciate my ability to achieve a pragmatic, commercial solution and the approach and the lengths to which I will go to achieve it.
A bit about me
What's the best place you've visited and why?
I ought to say something exotic, such as my honeymoon in the far north and south of Australia. But the best place is the islands of the Outer Hebrides and St Kilda in Scotland because the scenery is wild, the beaches are long, wide and beautiful and the people are warm and welcoming to visitors. Best of all is St Kilda because to see how people lived in the furthest flung part of the UK is beyond words.
Do you have any hobbies and what are they?
I enjoy cooking; landscape photography; wild walks; I am a Hispanophile and I speak Spanish fluently.
What was your first / most interesting job?
My first and most interesting job was working at a theme park, which included several appearances a day as a cowboy in performances to entertain the guests.
