A team of lawyers at SAS Daniels LLP led by Head of Corporate Jeremy Orrell, advised the shareholders of Hall Analytical Laboratories on its sale to Scottish scientific products supplier Crawford Scientific, in a deal backed by private equity firm Maven Capital Partners in December 2014.
Maven said its clients have invested a further £2.2m to support the acquisition having originally invested £3.9m in Crawford in August 2014.
Hall is a contract research organisation providing analytical services with an emphasis on mass spectrometry detection technologies. It already has a “strong existing partnership” with Crawford Scientific.
Sam Crawford, Managing Director of Crawford Scientific, said “We are delighted to welcome Malcolm Kimber and his team at Hall into the Crawford Group.
“The two companies have worked successfully together over a number of years to create a growing and exciting analytical services business and with additional resource we believe we can grow this business significantly.”
David Milroy, Investment Director at Maven added: “There are compelling reasons for Crawford’s acquisition of the Hall business not least of which is the strong customer loyalty that Hall enjoys, and the addition of its highly skilled team will only serve to consolidate Crawford’s enviable position as the UK’s leading provider of chromatography supplies and technical services.
“Since August we have developed a strong partnership with Crawford and we look forward to supporting Sam and his team further as they integrate the Hall business.”
Jeremy Orrell, Head of the Corporate team at SAS Daniels said, “We were delighted to help the shareholders complete the sale of their business to Crawford. The companies had worked together for some years and the synergy between them will accelerate the development of the Hall business.”
