Our Estate Administration & Probate team acted as executors for a generous patron of the arts and science in the Manchester area who was also an avid collector of fine art. He left most of his estate to a number of both national and local charities but also left a share of his estate in a form of Trust.
The trustees had the discretion to choose which charities they believed the deceased would have liked to benefit and to help make their decision, they had to research which charities the deceased supported during his lifetime. We carried out the research of the various charities and also liaised with the deceased’s family and friends on his pattern of charitable giving when he was alive.
We then liaised with those selected by the trustees in passing on a distribution to them. As some of the charities were local, the trustees can see at first hand how the funds distributed have benefitted the local community.
