We were recently instructed by a farm owner to act on his behalf by providing independent advice on a conditional sale contract and development agreement. We also advised on a collaboration agreement with an adjoining land owner.
We were one of several firms who pitched for this work and were instructed to take over conduct of all the client’s matters.
We worked closely with the client’s accountant and agent to review all his personal matters and acted as co-ordinator for the following pieces of work:
- Transfer of land into the farm partnership
- Review and rectification of titles for the farms various landholdings
- A tenancy agreement of the farmhouse for his partner in the farm partnership to occupy the premises without the protection of agricultural worker status
- A Will and Lasting Power of Attorney
- A Partnership agreement
During the case, we had a specific deadline to meet as the client was getting remarried and wanted to ensure that everything was in order before that date. We had a number of meetings both at the agent’s office and the farm to ensure that we fully understood the client’s needs and meet their deadline. This involved careful co-ordination and some problem solving.
