City & County Healthcare Limited has significantly increased its presence in the North West with the acquisition of Springbank Community Care Limited (Springbank) in Stoke-on-Trent.
As the City & County Group has established branches in Lancashire and the West Midlands, the deal puts it firmly on track to become one of the UK’s largest private suppliers of community-based care and support for publicly-funded bodies.
Springbank is a domiciliary care business, providing care in the home predominantly for elderly people as well as for those with more complex needs, such as learning disabilities. It currently provides around 2,800 hours of care per week.
Founded in 1995, Springbank has developed a reputation as a high-quality provider, earning a ‘Good’ Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating and strong customer referencing. The business employs around 105 well-trained staff, the majority of whom are qualified to at least NVQ2.
Craig Rushton, Group CEO of City & County, said “We are delighted to welcome Springbank Community Care into our organisation. Its North West location and more importantly, its ethos of providing a quality service make it an excellent and complementary addition to the group”.
North West law firm SAS Daniels LLP advised the shareholders of Springbank on the sale.
Jeremy Orrell, head of SAS Daniels’ Healthcare team, who advised Springbank on the deal, said: “Deals of this calibre prove that there is life in the North West domiciliary care sector and funding to be found for established, well-run businesses.”
City & County Healthcare were represented by Dee Sian and Laura May at London Solicitors Marriott Harrison.
