It is commonly known amongst the family law legal community that there is a surge in new divorces twice each year, in September and in January. The reasons for these months becoming trigger points to end a troubled marriage are various but can include such matters as bad holidays, spending too much time together over the summer period when you have little in common, Christmas parties and making a fresh start after either the summer or the new year.
It may be of interest to anyone contemplating a divorce that the court fees are due to rise in July 2013, and so if you have already come to the conclusion that the marriage is over, you can save yourself some money by not delaying until September.
Court applications for divorce and financial matters can be very expensive and traumatic for all concerned. It is absolutely vital that you obtain excellent legal advice and make sure that you have a strategy that will suit your individual needs, whilst avoiding the need for court proceedings by the use of mediation or collaborative law.
