Jeremy Orrell and Louise Tobin, two of the North West’s most influential senior commercial lawyers, are to join Cheshire’s biggest law firm, SAS Daniels LLP.
The pair, previously together at Slater Heelis Collier Littler (SHCL), will also bring with them team members, giving SAS Daniels LLP the largest and strongest Corporate & Commercial team in the region outside the major city centres, and means the firm’s Employment team grows from eight to 11 lawyers.
The highly-experienced Jeremy Orrell will be joined by SHCL Corporate & Commercial colleague Gareth Brewerton, Assistant Solicitor. The growth of the highly-rated SAS Daniels LLP Employment team, already the strongest outside Manchester and Liverpool, will also mean the addition of vast public sector experience with the arrival of Louise Tobin.
“This is no doubt something of a coup, but it is a coup that confirms SAS Daniels LLP’s status and reputation in our region as the firm to work for – and the firm to work with,” said the Managing Partner of SAS Daniels LLP.
Jeremy Orrell, 52, brings great experience and expertise in Corporate & Commercial. He has been a partner at both Slater Heelis and Cobbetts and has specialised in corporate transactional work for more than 25 years.
The bulk of Jeremy’s experience has been for owner-managed businesses, and he has significant experience in banking and finance, the care sector and the not-for-profit sector where his clients have included organisations such as housing associations, charities and local authorities. Jeremy was head of the Company & Commercial department at SHCL and becomes head of Corporate & Commercial at SAS Daniels LLP.
Louise Tobin, 38, will bring a new array of skills and expertise to SAS Daniels LLP’s Employment department: she specialises in Equal Pay cases, and has worked with many local authorities on employment matters. Louise, head of Employment at SHCL, will bring with her two assistants from SHCL, and joins SAS Daniels LLP as a partner.
The new teams will be based at SAS Daniels LLP ‘s office in Greek Street, Stockport.
“We have always invested time, money and effort in growth, and have established a momentum which has benefitted both the firm and its clients – but have deliberately invested in talent now to help us compete more effectively during and after the recession, while preparing ourselves and our clients for the challenges ahead in the market for legal services,” saidthe Managing Partner .
“While everybody else seems to have been looking forward to a break from recession this summer, we’ve been working furiously on building a strategy and a team to attack the undoubted opportunities that will arise as recession begins to ease.
“That perhaps sums up the SAS Daniels LLP approach for both our firm and our clients – driving forward.
“It’s a bold investment, but it has been carefully thought-through and provides SAS Daniels LLP with a credibility, capability and authority that allows the firm to challenge for and win clients that may previously have considered only major city firms.
“It broadens our expertise base for business, but opens up new areas for us in terms of employment matters because we now possess even greater public sector-relevant experience and expertise.”
