  • What are the differences between corporate law and commercial law?

Corporate law is relevant at each stage of a company’s lifecycle, from putting in place appropriate constitutional or contractual documentation such as articles of association and shareholders' agreements, dealing with any restructuring or reorganisation which may take place during the lifespan of a company, to mergers and acquisitions of either the business/assets or the shares in the company. Commercial law is concerned with the day-to-day running of a company and principally with its commercial relationships with its customers, suppliers and any other third party that it deals with. Commercial law involves a broader range of areas including intellectual property, franchising and data protection.
  • How can a commercial solicitor help me?

We can help you to negotiate and put in place suitable contractual frameworks to ensure that your business is adequately protected in its dealings with third parties and that the way your industry and business operates is understood and taken into consideration when providing such advice. It is beneficial to both parties to any agreement for all contractual arrangements to be set out in writing in the interests of certainty and it is likely to help avoid a dispute subsequently occurring between the parties.
