I am Business Owner, Joint Head of Macclesfield Office, Head of Private Client and Partner. I specialise in wills and wealth planning, powers of attorney and court of protection legal matters, with a strong focus on working with people who lack mental capacity and their families. I have a special interest in legal services that benefit the older person, in particular advising on care home fee funding, and generally helping people to plan for older age and put in place the arrangements that might help them later, for instance powers of attorney.
I advise clients across Cheshire from our offices in Macclesfield, Congleton, Stockport and Chester and will also see clients at their home or in hospital should they not be able to come to one of our offices.
I am a Director of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) and Regional Director of Staffordshire and Cheshire. As well as this, I am a fully qualified member of STEP (Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners).
Joined SAS Daniels: 2000
What people say about me:
"I would highly recommend Justine Clowes at the Macclesfield office. We quickly needed some advice regarding our elderly parents and care costs, an area which Justine specialised in. We were able to arrange an online meeting within a week and we were all very impressed with the service we received. Justine was professional and reassuring and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending her." (Mrs Q, 2021)
"Justine Clowes is an expert in mental capacity matters, care funding and working with older clients. She is head of the SAS Daniels private client team and joint head of the firm's Macclesfield office." (Chambers and Partners, 2020)
SAS Daniels are "large enough to have the expertise in-house but not too large to lose the personal touch which is so important to clients. The team is technically extremely capable and all team members have an excellent bedside manner. The extremely professional Justine Clowes heads the team." (Legal 500, 2018)
"Friendly, efficient and professional." (CM, Congleton)
"Extremely helpful and lovely to do business with." (CC, Congleton)
"Many thanks for all your help and attention during a very difficult time." (DH, Macclesfield)
Why I'm no ordinary professional:
Whenever I’m giving advice to clients, I always keep in the back of my mind how I feel when I take my car to the garage. I have no idea at all about the mechanics of a car engine and hate standing there feeling stupid while trying to pretend that I know what the mechanic is talking about. I keep that in mind, because that is exactly what I want to avoid when I’m advising my own clients. I will always make sure that my clients are comfortable with the solutions that I provide for them. It’s my job to make sure that they understand what can sometimes be complicated issues. I don’t do jargon (but I will draw pictures!).
