If you’re considering remortgaging your home, whether it’s to get a better rate from your lender or change to a buy-to-let mortgage, our Conveyancing team can guide you through the process from start to finish ensuring your remortgage is dealt to the highest standard.
What’s involved in the remortgage conveyancing process?
When it comes to remortgaging a property, the title to a property needs to be investigated to the same standard as a property purchase. This involves a conveyancer or solicitor, checking the title deeds to the property and the property being valued. Dependant on the requirements set by your lender, it may also mean that some searches have to be carried out.
Although it’s worth noting that, in a remortgage process, most lenders will accept a search indemnity policy which can greatly reduce the time and costs involved with completing the searches. Typically, full searches on a property can cost approximately £250.00 whereas, a search indemnity policy can be provided for roughly £30.00 dependant on the property’s value and the lender’s requirements.
